Heart of Napa was created to serve as outdoor metal art for a local winery, where a continuous circle melds into the ground and becomes abstracted by perforation. The sculpture explores themes of continuity, connection, and impact. The aggregation of individual laser cut discs reinforces the idea that individuals can make a difference, and working together makes that impact stronger than the sum of its parts. The winery artwork allows the background and surrounding vineyard context to participate with the piece and provide moments of shadow-play, as daylight shines through it.
